This is the first album of fIREHOSE (the band that succeeded to the Minutemen), issued in 1986. Quite good, but I think less amazing than the Minutemen.

First issued only on tape in 1985, this album covers the same period of "Forget", with rarities, but it mainly contains six songs that were scheduled for the second album that never saw the light. This is the CD version from 1993.

Issued in 1987 after the split, this album contains demos and outtakes from 1979 to 1982. A good way of introducing the band if you don't know them.

Mission Of Burma are probably the Van Gogh of the post-punk era : no one nearly did gave a f*** to them when they were active, and everyone is claiming they were one of the best post-punk outfit today. And, they were, really. A strong, noisy and dark music, sometimes close to Gang Of Four, with a lot of sensibility. This was the first EP, containing the famous single "That's When I Reach For My Revolver", covered by Moby some years ago.

This is german post-punk from 1982 I think with a touch of ska, it's epileptic and fun, you only have to see the lyrics : "no more bango in Kongo but pogo in Togo, samba in Uganda, Coca-Cola in Angola, aruba in Kuba, only banana in Ghana." Nice, isn't it ?

The Passions - Sanctuary

I got a love story with the Passions, a post-punk band who made 3 albums, including the famous single "I'm in Love With a German Film Star", at the beginning of the eighties. This is their third album, long forgotten but as good as the others. Ripped from vinyl.

There are bad things to play with like political extreme messages (Crisis was extreme-left, Death In June used to show an extreme-right image), but the music is here, and it rules !

Dave Ball - In Strict Tempo + Rare Tempo

Dave Ball was the "second man" in Soft Cell, with Marc Almond. He made this fantastic solo-album in 1983. Very experimental and not far from industrial music. Rare Tempo is a 12" issued the same year, featuring Gavin Friday (Virgin Prunes) and Genesis P.Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV).
